Need Help with Your Writing Project?

When I was a high school student, I had a wild idea that I wanted to be a writer. It was wild because I knew of no one who did such things--I grew up on a farm--and I had no idea about how to become one. Then I got the idea that I should start journaling. Well to be honest, I think the idea came from my English teacher. So I wrote and have written more days than not since I was 18. While there is little worth reading on those pages, I did practice and if you want to write, it takes a lot of practice.

As a part of the writing craft, I have edited over 50 books, served as a ghost writer of a few books and have published seven of my own books. (I've also written a few that will never see the ink of a printing press.) For 18 years, I've written and have helped other writers get their words crafted for their audience. I've worked with authors with a variety of experience, from novice to mature writers.

Do you need help getting your words crafted? Send me an email at mscottboren@gmail.com to learn about the various ways that I can help, whether as an editor, book doctor, ghost writer or book agent.

Words that Make a Difference

Words matter. They possess a mysterious power. Power to shape. Power to tear down. Power to build. Power to leave us in mediocrity. Power to make us soar. Words fly around us, through us and circulate in our heads like cake batter being whipped. We all work with words, but they only work to convey a message when we work hard to put them together in impacting ways.

Many have have something to say that is significant, even life changing. They have a story to tell, a concept to explain or a hope to share. I am launching this blog to encourage and equip people who have such a message. Over the last 18 years, I have been working with authors of various levels of ability and experience to help them convey their unique voice. To this point, those with whom I've worked have come my way through serendipitous relationships. Now it's time to open that door a bit more and use words to help people with their words.

To start this blog, I want to provide the writing tip that has impacted my writing the most: If you have words that you want to put on paper or on the screen for others to read, the place to begin is to start writing. Write a little everyday. Most of what you write won't end up in your final written piece. That's not the point. Writing never starts off "right." It's always unpolished and needs more work. That's ok. Just get your fingers working and write.
